Front Headlock Anaconda Choke and Darce

First lesson today, first time back on the mats in over a year and the focus was front headlocks. I messed up the first move, so will need to come back to that later.

But both moves started from the front head lock, opponent on all fours, me in front with one hand on a chin strap and the other hand cupping their elbow. The kind of position we might find ourselves after stuffing opponents single leg.

Key points for the headlock is to put our weight through our shoulder onto their neck and have have at least one knee off the ground. John Danaher suggests being in a run position, as if we were going to run towards the side that's not holding the chin.

Next we shoot the chin hand under the armpit for the gable grip, CHIN HAND UP.

Anaconda

Use my elbow to push their elbow under them to break their base.

Immediately kick bottom leg under top leg to begin the roll, like an alligator roll while keeping the position tight. At the end of the roll, I want their head on my belly, this help tighten everything up for the finish.

At this point I want to switch from a gable grip to a figure of four bicep grip to further tighten the choke. Then walk towards their hips, tighten the choke and lift their head.

Good video on the chin strap:

Here is a variation where a two on one and a quick lift is used to break the base and the figure of four is locked in before the role.

Here is a variation where giving up the single leg is used as bait to break the base, and also the figure of four is locked up before the role.

What they all have in common is that they begin with a front headlock, the base must be broken by removing the post of the outside arm, they are rolled over alligator style and a figure of four is used for the finish.

Arm in Darce

Thread my underhook back through until I can put my wrist across the back of their neck, and move to side control while keeping as tight to them at possible.

Then do the scissors, by lifting them with my bottom arm and pushing down with top arm for the choke.

If they roll to the side then try to go as deep as possible with the choke arm, lock the figure of four on the bicep and answer the phone

To finish, sprawl, drive the weight through the choke, squeeze elbows together towards the chest.

Front headlock high elbow guillotine

Today's lesson followed on the theme of turtle and all four attacks. Defend Turtle Attack with Roll I'm in turtle and the the the opponent reaches in for the underhook. At this point I trap their arm above the elbow with the armpit of my elbow and turn them over with a technical roll, where I kiss my offside knee. Once over establish side control. High Elbow Guillotine The opponent starts on all fours as if we have stuffed a take down, shoulder on the back of their neck, right hand on the chip strap, left hand cupping the elbow on the floor, right knee down and aligned with their head, left leg live and used to apply weight. Our head is resting on the left side of their body, then we move our head over to the right side allowing us to fee our right arm deep under their neck from the chin strap position. We then hold the hand of the choke arm with the left, next  we want to end up in T position looking in his ear hole Variation 1 shrimp out, throw in the bottom knee shield to st...

Single leg X Guard - Straight Ankle Lock Switch

Same as the day before except today we looked at what to do if the pull the ankle off the hip. In this situation they will push the foot off the hip and scoot their arse over the top of the foot. When this happens put the inside foot on their hip in the same spot the old one was and pull the outside leg under to hook their arse. Pinch the knees together to keep it tight.
